About

The Founders

Sisters Sandra & Karla, the founders behind swim and apparel label MORÉ NOIR, graduated two of the industry’s most celebrated schools, with Sandra pursuing a degree in Womenswear Design in Central St Martins College back in the early aughts and Karla taking up Fashion Business at Istituto Marangoni a decade later. Fashion aside, a love for film, music, and each other continues to bring the two together, leaving them forever caught between reality and fantasy, much like the pieces they create.

The Brand

Oscillating between strength and softness, MORÉ NOIR’s aesthetic celebrates femininity through a distinctly contemporary lens swiped clean of bias and prejudice. From a colour palette that masterfully balances the duo’s go-to shades of ivory and black with sudden pops of luscious colour, to the way the edges of silk trimmings are often left unfinished celebrating all things at once raw and exquisite, a love of a poetic whilst sexually suggestive aesthetic filters through every facet of the brand to define each piece as unapologetically MN. A nod to their native Bulgaria, the name stands for the Black sea they keep coming back to.

Our Mission

Drawing from the coherent duality between them, founders Sandra and Karla aim to harness the power of clothing to communicate self expression by creating garments at once empowering and disarmingly beautiful. Through MORÉ NOIR’s sustainably crafted pieces, the two seek to define a new aesthetic language that, unlike the extreme references they are drawn to, is neither one thing. Suspended in the in-between, a sophisticated space where instinct and intellect converge, theirs are pieces designed for real women to thrive in.

Our Values

Founders Sandra and Karla believe in the inherent goodness of things. And that coming from a good place goes a long way towards sparking off beauty. It’s what they like to call Beauty Amplified.

Making pieces that last

Produced in small batches with the aim of generating close to no waste, each piece is carefully conceived as carryover and meant for women to enjoy and keep as part of their wardrobe for years to come.

Looking for ways to minimise waste

Getting an early sense of demand through our newly launched pre-order feature empowers you and helps us more accurately predict and align our efforts with your wishes. Further down the line, this translates into the minimising of all kinds of waste by allowing us to be agile and focus our efforts and money where it matters most. Much like with with any other relationship, communication comes front and center in navigating the one with our customers.

Producing locally in fair working conditions

Our pieces are made in a specialist atelier in the very heart of Sofia where a small team of people we now call family work to bring our dreams to life and give you the very best we have to offer. That allows us to not only save on time but also minimise our carbon footprint by way of operating what is our tightly knit, locally based operation.

Using sustainable materials whenever possible

We are delighted to be introducing sustainability to the collection by way of using ECONYL® regenerated nylon made with waste from oceans and landfills, such as fishing nets, carpet fluff, and fabric scraps, and guaranteeing for thoughtfully made products that generate no waste and waste no valuable resources. To go the extra mile, ECONYL® is Oeko-Tex certified, so there are no hazardous chemicals used in dyeing the fabric.
